Joseph Walega Obituary

Joseph V. Walega, age 83, passed away on February 20, 2025. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Joseph T. Walega and Rita Mitchell Walega. He is survived by his daughter from his marriage to the late Carole H. Walega, Kristin G. Walega of Arlington, VA. Also surviving are his sister-in-law Barbara F. Cromartie of Clarksburg, MD, as well as nephews John Cromartie, his daughter Grace, and Daniel Cromartie, his wife and daughter Amanda and Emma, respectively, and many loving Walega and Mitchell cousins. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Theodore R. Walega, his stepmother Vickie Walega, and many other beloved family and friends.

A proud graduate of Mount Saint Joseph High School, Joe went on to earn a B.S. in Business from the University of Maryland, College Park, and served his country honorably in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves.

A true entrepreneur, Joe founded Copy World, a successful copy and print business in Washington, DC. Later in life he was a Realtor and ran a successful Airport Car Service in South Florida.

A memorial celebrating Joe's life will be held on June 1, 2025, from 2–4 PM at Nick's Fish House, 2600 Insulator Dr., Baltimore, MD.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (www.cbf.org).
