Kevin O'Connor Obituary

Kevin Francis O'Connor died peacefully at the University of Maryland Medical Center on May 21, 2022, with his beloved family by his side. He leaves behind his wife Pam and their children Courtney, Katelyn, and Sean, all of Bel Air, Maryland; his parents Ann and Skilly O'Connor of Elmira, New York; his sister Fiona O'Connor and brother-law Ron Norman of Elmira; his sister Lindsey O'Connor, brother-in-law Doug Fastuca, and niece Sophie Fastuca of Malvern, Pennsylvania; and aunts, uncles, and cousins in England and across the United States that mourn him deeply. Kevin was predeceased by his mother-in-law Freida Higgins and his father-in-law Hersel Higgins and is survived by Pam's siblings and their families-David and Annie Higgins with children Alex and Kimmy; Michael Higgins; and Sharon and John Fava with children Christina, Raymond, Anthony, and Rachel.

Kevin was born in Elmira, New York, on February 11, 1960. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School, St. Patrick's Junior High, and Notre Dame High School. In college, Kevin discovered his passion for computers, which set him on the path to his profession. Kevin worked at Toshiba Display Devices before relocating to Bel Air, Maryland, where he launched his long career as an IT consultant and Senior Project Manager specializing in JD Edwards.

It was while working for one of his clients that Kevin met Pam. They married on November 13, 1999, and settled in Bel Air, where they spent many contented years raising their children. Kevin ranked the births of his children as the best moments of his life. They were his favorite companions and his greatest pride and joy. He was their biggest fan. He loved going to Sean's robotics competitions; watching Katelyn's and Courtney's dance performances; and seeing them all grow into fine young adults. He especially enjoyed taking them to Elmira. For Kevin, Elmira was "R & R"-a chance to return to his roots, share a cup of tea with his mother, and relive O'Connor memories with his dad. Kevin took Sean gliding at Harris Hill, picked up wings at the Elbow Room with Pam, and made glass ornaments with his girls at the Corning Museum of Glass, creating another generation with happy Elmira memories. He never missed a high school reunion or a chance to meet up with Terry Brophy, aka Broph, his good and faithful friend throughout the years.

Kevin will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted son, loyal brother, and most of all, a great dad. He passed on to his children his love of family, his sense of humor and whimsy, his ability to find joy in life's small moments, his artistic and mechanical aptitudes, his compassion for all creatures, and his intense courage and perseverance, which enabled him to overcome many obstacles in his life. Though Kevin's premature passing leaves a void in the lives of all who loved him, they can be comforted that his spirit and character live on in Courtney, Katelyn, and Sean.

Kevin's family would like to thank all who have supported them throughout this journey. The many kindnesses extended by friends have been a great blessing.

Visitation hours for Kevin will take place at McComas Funeral Home, 50 West Broadway, Bel Air, Maryland, on Friday, May 27, at 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A service of thanksgiving for Kevin's life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, May 28, at 11:00 AM with interment to follow in Jarrettsville Cemetery. Dear O'Connor family,

It has taken me this long to finally get up the courage to acknowledge the reality. I cannot begin to express my great sadness. Kevin was a genuine friend from a great distance for several decades. Few people (and families) have touched my life as you all have. Kevin loved and lived for his family than any man I have ever known. Our Disney trip will always be in my heart as one of my best memories! Kevin and all of you will always hold a very special place in my heart. Love always.

I am very sorry for the loss of a great husband, father, and friend. I have known Kevin since 8th grade and can´t think of a more more decent man. I will miss seeing him at events in Elmira and my thoughts and prayers his family.
