Leonard Cymbalist Obituary

LEONARD D. CYMBALIST, 85, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2003 in Rockledge, FL. He had been a part time resident of Millersville, MD and Melbourne, FL since 1990 after retiring from a successful sales career as a heating engineer in New York. My. Cymbalist distinguished himself in WWII as a career Royal Air Force officer serving the British nation in its finest hour. He was one of those that Mr. Churchill spoke of during the dark days of the Battle of Britain, when he rallied the nation by exalting the efforts of the few who were owed so much by so many. He survived the opening battles of the war to go on to teach navigation at St. Andrews in Scotland to new cadets and replacements needed to carry the war effort. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Joyce (nee Weatherbee); three loving children, Valerie Tarrant of Copenhagen, NY, Michael Cymbalist of Millersville, MD and Peter Cymbalist of Walton, MY. A brother, David Cymbalist of Inverness, Scotland; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A celebration of Mr. Cymbalist life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to The Kidney Foundation, 1040 Woodcock Rd., Suite #219, Orlando, FL 32803. Arrangements are entrusted to East Coast Cremation, Rockledge, FL.
