Linda Davis Obituary

Linda S. Davis (née Shofstahl) born May 29, 1940 in Niagara Falls, NY to Merlin and Hazel Shofstahl (deceased) passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on November 6, 2018. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, William R. Davis, Jr.(Bill) of Laurel, MD, a daughter Jenny Heinritz (Cole) of Owings, MD and one grandson Kyle Heinritz of Alpharetta, GA. Linda graduated from Niagara Falls High School and Bryant and Stratton Business School in Buffalo, NY and held jobs as a secretary at Dwight D. Eisenhower Junior High in Laurel, as a purchasing manager at Litton Amecom in College Park, as a veterinarian assistant at the Laurel Animal Hospital, and at the Laurel Branch of the Prince George's County Memorial Library System. In the late 1970's Linda and family lived in Camp Zama, Japan where Linda took up needlepoint creating many intricate wall hangings. She enjoyed traveling around Japan, Korea, and Hong Kong as well as learning about the Japanese culture and documented her adventures with many photographs. In 1997 Linda became a liver transplant recipient with a subsequent kidney transplant in 2009. Linda had a tenacious approach to her medical issues and was known for her true grit in overcoming many health scares. Linda was an animal lover, especially cats and exotic birds, an avid reader, and never met a craft show she didn't like. Despite her declining health she attended many of her grandson's sporting events. And friends and family always looked forward to the long-running annual Christmas cookie baking weekend by Linda and her daughter. Linda is also survived by her sister, Laurel Cross (Jim) of Laurel, MD, two nephews and their families, many cousins and her life-long friend Anne Hodgkiss of Niagara Falls, NY. A memorial service will be planned sometime after the Thanksgiving holiday. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you please donate to The Oasis Sanctuary Foundation or the American Society for Transplantation.
