Mary KENNEDY Obituary

Our beloved Mary Louise Touhey Kennedy " Mary Lou", peacefully passed away on October 4, 2025 at age 91 at Gilchrist Hospice, Baltimore, MD. She is survived by her brother, T. Joseph Touhey, her niece, Laura Lee Touhey, her nephew, Michael James Touhey and Rose LeBlanc her devoted friend and neighbor. Mary Louise is preceded in death by her son, Bruce William Kennedy, who peacefully passed in 2022 in Alabama, and her nephew Stephen John Touhey. She was the loving daughter of Dr. T. Joseph Touhey, who passed in 1977, and Louise H. Touhey, who passed in 1993. Mary Louise graduated from the Institute of Notre Dame in 1952, and later graduated from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing receiving a Registered Nurse Degree. Mary Louise worked tirelessly caring for others until her retirement at the age of 60. Mary Louise's chosen profession was indeed reflective of her gentle spirit and unwavering warmth and compassion for others. In retirement, Mary Louise had a zest for life that was infectious. Her humor and keen wit were ever present. She had a passion for music, travel, reading and the Orioles. A self-avowed, political junkie Mary Louise was actively engaged in current events and cared deeply about staying up to date. Mary Louise will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

A private memorial service will take place at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens at a future date. The family requests that in lieu of gifts or flowers, friends honor Mary Louise's passing by contributing to The Maryland Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741. donate.cancer.org
