Mary Sutherland Obituary

SUTHERLAND CRESTON - Mary Nell Graybeal Sutherland, daughter of the late Reuben and Rebecca Graybeal, was born Sept. 19, 1914, and departed this life Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007. She was laid to rest on Monday, Dec. 24, at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. She was cafeteria manager at Riverview School and later retired from Sprague Electric Co. in Lansing. Nell had many accomplishments during her lifetime. Her most recent was her dedication to Riverview Community Center, where her hobby of quilting, organizing a variety of meals and directing short skits were used in fundraising. Nell had a great love of flowers and spent many pleasant hours making the area around her more beautiful. She was an active member of Clifton Methodist Church and Riverview Lions Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Grant Sutherland. Nell is survived by a daughter, Davia S. Cook; son-in-law Bryce Cook; granddaughter Marea Pinto and her husband, Craig Pinto; and great-granddaughter Mary Catherine Pinto. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorials in her honor may be made to Ashe Outreach Ministries, c/o "Nell' s Vision to Feed the Hungry", 9382 Highway 88 West, Warrensville, NC 28693.
