Richard Austin "Rich" ELMS

Richard "Rich" Austin Elms, 68, 0f Finksburg, MD, passed away on February 7, 2025. Rich was born on August 25, 1956, in Baltimore, MD to the late Richard Elms and Elizabeth Olivero. Rich is survived by his wife, Barbara, sons Richard and Timothy, daughter Christina and her husband Randy, and grandchildren Natalie, Ace, Cash, Colton, Ryan and Christian, and loving Mama, Bonnie Elms. Rich had three brothers, Allan, John and Brian and is predeceased by his sister Jodie. Rich graduated from South Carroll High School and after working for a few home improvement businesses, started Elms Construction Company, a very successful business he proudly ran for more than 40 years.

Rich was a free spirit who deeply loved his family and friends. He enjoyed hosting get-togethers and cookouts at his house, where he created lasting memories with those close to him. When he was younger, Rich looked forward to his annual canoeing trips, a perfect blend of his love for the outdoors, adventure and good friends. Rich had a special bond with his dogs and enjoyed walking in the woods with them. His love for music and riding his motorcycle brought joy to his life. Rich's adventurous spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

Friends may call at the family-owned Mitchell-Wiedefeld Funeral Home, Inc. 6500 York Road (at Overbrook) on Thursday from 10:00 AM to 12 Noon. A Funeral Service will be held at 12 Noon at the funeral home. Interment Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
