Rita Oats Obituary

OATS , Rita Marie On September 3,2007, Rita Marie Oats (Nee Freeze) passed away after finally succumbing to multiple illnesses. She was 84. A 56 year resident of Brooklyn Park, she was well known and loved in her neighborhood for her generosity and endless giving, and was always available to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She is still fondly remembered by many for her chocolate apples-on-a-stick that she always made for the children at Belle Grove Elementery School. Married to Joseph Murphy, she was widowed at an early age and although left with 3 small children, cared single-handedly for her mother and father until their deaths. She later married Charles Oats and had 2 more children. Widowed again, she was left to raise these children by herself. In her later years she cared for her 2 brothers and sister-in-law until their deaths. She leaves behind a legacy of love, giving & selflessness, and her last wish was for our family to always stay close and love one another. She was a blessing to everyone who's life she touched, especially her family. She will truly be missed. Her loving children: Rita Schindler, Sharon Murphy, Joseph Murphy (deceased),Victor and Anthony Oats. Grandchildren: Crystal,Victor and Jessica Oats, Edward Schindler, Wes Schindler (deceased), Norman and Kathy Brown. Great-grandchildren: Justin Bromwell, Victor & Dominic Oats, Breonna Froneberger. Loving In-laws: Robin and Amanda Oats, and Pam and Ruth Brown. Countless friends and neighbors.
