Robert Wright Obituary

Robert Clarence Wright, Sr., affectionately known as "Buzz", passed away Friday, July 8 at his home in Darlington, MD with his loving wife by his side. He was 79 years old.

Born in Abingdon, MD, he was the son of the late Clarence W. Wright and Jessie Lee (née Richardson) Wright, and his late step-father, Woodrow Wright. He is also predeceased by his brothers Woodrow Wright, Jr. and Ronald Wright.

Mr. Wright devoted 35 years as a civil servant on the Aberdeen Proving Ground, as a heating, air conditioning, and ventilation (HVAC) mechanic, as well as having proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. A member of the American Legion Post 128 in Aberdeen, he enjoyed maintaining his property, playing bingo, and going to the casino. In his younger years, Buzz was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Buzz is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sheryl (Crandol) Wright; children, Deborah L. Wingo-Wright, Theresa L. Douglass-Wright, Robert C. Wright, Jr., and Kathy Wright; sisters, Mary L. Welshons and Shirley G. Ziervogel; a brother, William K. Wright; four special grandchildren, Tiffany Arndt, Jacob Tolson, Madison Ruleman, and Nicholas Morse. He is also survived by an additional five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on July 20th at 4 p.m. at Grove Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
