Shane, I will always remember the great cook-outs, and the friendship we shared for many years. Hope you see Josh, and know that you both are and will be truly missed. My deepest sympathy is extended to your family. Gonna miss you buddy.

There will definitely be a void in many of the lives of my fellow Ravens buddies who've enjoyed Shane's friendship for many years of their lives. Shane's unique spirit and "umph" will forever be missing from our tailgates and game-time festivities - Shane truly will be missed, but our fond memories of him will endure.

At the blowing of the wind and in the chill of Winter, We remember him.

At the opening of buds and in the rebirth of Spring, We remember him.

At the opening day for the O’s , we drink one and remember him

At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of Summer, We remember him.

At the crackle and pop of the fireworks, we light one and remember him

At the rustling of leaves and the beauty of Autumn, We remember him.

At the first fire in our backyard, we watch the ambers and remember him

At the beginning of the year and when it ends, We remember him.

As long as we live, they too will live; for they are now a part of us, as we remember him.

When we are weary and in need of strength, We remember him.

When we are lost and sick at heart, We remember him.

When we have joys we yearn to share, We remember him.

When we have decisions that are difficult to make, We remember him

When we have achievements that are based on theirs, We remember him.

When we watch a Ravens game, We remember him

When we play horseshoes, We remember him

When we camp in the woods, We remember him

As long as we live, they too shall live, for they are a part of us, as we remember him.

The news of Shane's sudden death has shaken us. We feel sad that fate has delivered such a cruel blow to his family and friends.

Shane was a true friend to our son Craig and our nephews Jerry and Ed. They shared so many good times together. He became an extended member of our family too!

Shane was always willing to lend a helping hand and quick to give you a smile with those vibrant blue eyes. He had a wonderful sense of humor and had many good friends.

We will miss him very much but his memory will live on.

Rest in Peace.

Shane, you were a good friend to my sons, Jerry and Eddie. I remeber you calling my house to talk to them, I remember you coming over my house to pick Ed up on several occasions, and I remember all the guys meeting at my house for Raven's games. My sons always enjoyed the cookouts at your house and playing horse shoes and volleyball. God Bless You and Keep You. My prayers to your family. Sincerely, Mary Hersl
