Shelda Bond Obituary



Shelda Jean Bond, psychotherapist, adjunct professor of psychology, and former Miss Maryland, died suddenly on Saturday, April 29, at her home in Sparks. The longtime resident of Baltimore County was 75. The former Miss Maryland 1962 went on to represent Maryland in the 1962 Miss Universe Pageant. As a young woman, Ms. Bond regularly appeared as a dancer on "The Buddy Deane Show" - for a time, the most popular local show in the United States. She also modelled, eventually opening her own agency, LaShell, Ltd. She married her husband, Frank Bond, on February 28, 1969, gave birth to her son, Baron, in 1972, and earned an associate degree from Catonsville Community College in 1975. She went on to graduate magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from Towson University in 1978. She ultimately earned a Master of Arts in psychology from Loyola College in Maryland in 1982 and had a psychotherapy practice as a partner with Psych Associates in Towson. Ms. Bond was a member of the American Mental Health Counselors Association and received recognition for outstanding professional achievement from the National Association of Licensed Professionals. Born Shelda Jean Farley on April 1, 1942, Ms. Bond was the daughter of the late, Samuel and Arvilla Farley, and is survived by her husband and son, daughter-in-law, Mayrav, and three grandchildren, Anthem, Aris, and Revel. Ms. Bond was predeceased by her brother Bruce. She will be greatly missed by her loving brothers Brent and Brian, nieces, Gina, Maria and Jessica, nephews, Sam and Brian Jr., four grandnieces and two grandnephews. Services at SOL LEVINSON & BROS., INC., 8900 Reisterstown Road, at Mount Wilson Lane on Friday, May 12, at 1 pm. The family will begin to receive visitors at 12 noon.

I was very good friends with Shelda in jr high. She was very populal, pretty & smart. I loved her as a good friend and am sad that we lost touch. We used to have so much fun! I was happy to hear about her many achievements . My prayers go out to family. RIP my friend.
