Stephen A. "Steve" Troy

Stephen Alexander Troy, age 77, of Bel Air, MD, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on July 10, 1948, in Kingsville, MD, Steve was the son of the late William and Blanche Troy. He spent his early years attending St. Stephen School and graduated from Perry Hall High School. Steve earned his degree in sociology from Towson State University and began his professional journey by owning a tire shop before embarking on a successful 30+ year career with IBM.

Steve will be remembered for his avid woodworking, quick wit, boundless curiosity, and unwavering dedication to his family. He was especially proud of being the patriarch of the 1996 PTA Family of the Year.

Steve is survived by his beloved wife of many years, Mary "Terry" Troy, and their children: Erin Troy Morring (Spencer), Daniel Alexander Troy (Leslie), and Kathleen "Kathy" Therese Troy. He was a proud grandfather to Graeme Morring, Ian Morring, Walter Troy, Harrison Troy, and Edwin Troy.

He is also survived by his siblings: William B. Troy (Claudia), Susan Alderman (Howard), and Anne Crist; and his extended family including sister-in-law Sharon Richardson, brother-in-law H. Bruce Richardson (Mariann), sister-in-law Grace Colleen Knopp, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.

A visitation will be held at McComas Funeral Home, 50 W Broadway, on Thursday September 11, 2025, from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 pm. A mass will be held on Friday September 12, 2025, at 10:30 am, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 533 E. Jarrettsville Rd.
