Dear Sandy & Pete;
We just learned of Steve's passing in the JT. We did not have the pleasure of knowing Steve but have heard what a wonderful son, father, brother and friend that he was. I am sure he was a great inspiration to many battling cancer. We are deeply sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

To the Engelman family,
I met Steve in spinning class at the JCC. We immediately bonded and he told me of his prior health issues. As my sister in law is battling cancer Steve was always very supportive and informative. When he was rediagnosed this time he truly amazed me. He continued to spin with an incredible strength. He was always possitive and upbeat. He talked so lovingly of his sons and their accomplishments. Although his life was way too short he truly lived and inspired many. He will be missed and I who really knew him so briefly am better off for having known him.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort. Steven was a wonderful person who touched many hearts over the years. Even though I haven't seen him since high school, I learned alot from him way back when. He will be missed.

Steven, my brother, I will carry you in my heart always. And I promise I will give to your boys what I was not able to give to you. You showed all of us what it means to be brave, and that is what I will tell your kids when they ask me to tell them stories about their Dad. You are loved for eternity.

To the Engelman Family,
I cannot begin to imagine what you all must be going through. My heart goes out to you, especially the boys! He fought so bravely everything that was thrown to him, not many people would be able to do that. Steven will always have a special place in my heart and he will be missed!
With love,

Dear Steve,
You were one of the best people I knew in High School. Whenever I was down you were one of the only ones that tried to help me. To your parents my sympathies go out to you and your whole family as I know first hand what it's like to see your son suffer as I have a 9 month old baby with special health issues. I know this is hard to believe but Steve is in a much better place now and can finally rest and you will be reunited again in our Heavenly Fathers Palace. May peace be with you and yours.

Steven,

You were a tower of strength and an inspiration to all who knew and loved you. We, your family, knew of your courage ....and mostly of your love and deep devotion to your family and friends. Your beautiful boys will have the same wonderful qualities you had, and gave to them. We are heartsick that you have left our midst, but you will never leave our hearts...ever!

I have very fond memories of "Growing UP" with "NOOKS"! The 280z that Mr. Engleman hated, rolling over the Suzuki truck and all of Steves' coins from his vending buisness all over 695! I am sorry to have lost touch with Steve and I did not know he wasn't feeling well again. Having tragically lost my father 2 years ago and being a parent today myself, I wish your family peace and hope that Steve is in a good place looking down.

Truly,
Jim Ballan

Steve,
You are going to be deeply missed. It was a pleasure for me to get to know you and the boys while cleaning your house in the short amount of time that I did. You and the boys were always happy no matter what was going on. I am thankful that I got to know you. You will always be in our hearts.

To the Engelman Family...
While it was not our fortune to know Steven personally, we were most surely aware of his valiant battle to live. Words are so inadequate at this sad time that we will only add that the countless beautiful memories left by Steven will most certainly ease the pain of such a great loss.

Our sincere condolences..........

Steven and your loving family, your' strength and courage through everythng you had to deal with in your life was and is an inspiration to everyone who knew you. Knowing that you fought hard and loved your family will help to see them thru this time. Only have met your son's once, I could see what a great father and friend your were to your boys, and i know they will grow up wonderful men and carry on their fathers love and beliefs. As young children our families were close, but over the years people and family do drift apart. I've always asked about you and your family to other memeber and i am so pleased that i was invited to Justin's Bar Mitzvah and was able to be there for a happy occasion. I'll love and always miss you and think of you and will stay in touch with the rest of the family. My deepest sympathy to your family, friends and loved ones.

I did not know Steven well, but I knew of his strugles and his tremendous courage in dealing with his illness. If a legacy is made based on how one handles adversity, and how one deals with the lessons learned, then Steven is going to be remembered as a great man, and a man of great strength. My heart goes out to his family, Pete & Sandy, we love you!
