Stuart Wallace Obituary

In Memoriam: Stuart "Skip" George Wallace, Sr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Skip, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who passed away peacefully on October 3, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving family. Skip left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Skip was born on November 3, 1942 to the late Don and Reba (Simpson) Wallace in Baltimore, MD. He served in the Coast Guard for 4 years and later worked at Bethlehem Steel for 45 years.  He was a remarkable sailor and enjoyed being on the water whenever he had the chance. He also had a passion for keeping a beautiful yard, picking up unique items at yard sales, motorcycles, classic cars, beach trips and visiting Oxford, MD.

His life was marked by resilience, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to his family. On February 16, 1985, he joined hands in matrimony with the love of his life, Joanne Merrill Wallace. Together, they shared 38 years of a remarkable journey, navigating the highs and lows of life with an enduring love that became a source of inspiration for all who were fortunate enough to witness it.

A dedicated family man, Skip leaves behind a loving wife, Joanne; his surviving children, Stuart Wallace, Jr., the late Michael Wallace, Todd Frederick and wife Melonie, Rob Frederick and wife Barb, Brian Frederick and wife Gwen, daughter Nina Crissman and husband Keith.

In the embrace of family, Skip found his greatest joy, grandchildren. They held a special place in his heart, and he leaves behind a constellation of love in Jordan and Emily Frederick; Rebecca, Libby, and Ben Frederick; Addie and Stella Frederick and Abingale and Casandra Crissman. Each grandchild was a testament to the love and wisdom Skip bestowed upon them, creating a bond that transcends time.  He is also survived by many other family and friends.

Skip's brothers, the late Donny Wallace and Tico Wallace and wife Susan, were not only family but lifelong companions who shared in the joys and challenges of life. Their camaraderie added depth to Skip's journey, and their memories will forever linger in the hearts of those who knew them.

A celebration of Skip's life will take place on November 10, 2023 at The Balco Club, 9318 Todd Avenue in Fort Howard, MD from 2pm to 6pm. Friends and family are invited to join in commemorating a life well-lived, remembering a man whose kindness, strength, and enduring love touched the lives of all who knew him.

As we bid farewell to Skip, we find solace in the knowledge that his legacy lives on in the hearts of those he loved. May his soul find eternal peace and may the memories of his laughter and love continue to bring comfort to those who mourn his passing.

Skip always found a way to get a laugh. Most times at his expense.

So when our dog, Daisy, passed away Skip showed up at our house with a large heart-shaped rock which we placed on her grave in our yard. Like everyone lucky enough to know him, Daisy loved Skip and we were so touched by his kindness. Just writing this reminds me that an act of kindness I may think is not a big deal might just be a memorable event in someone´s life. I clearly remember that day and will think of Skip each time I pass the heart rock under the crepe myrtle.
