Suzanne Haslam Obituary

HASLAM , Suzanne Suzanne Lynn Brenner Haslam , age 62 of Ocean City, MD passed away on Monday, December 24, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, MD. "Sue" is the daughter of Col. Robert N. Brenner, Jr, USA, Ret. of Berlin, MD and Patricia Z. Brenner of Ocean City, MD. She is survived by her brother Robert (Rob) N. Brenner, III, a sister-in-law, Kimberley A. Brenner and her niece, Summer J. Brenner, and her faithful canine companion, "BB". Sue was born in Williamsport, PA. Prior to moving to Worcester County over 30 years ago, Sue resided in Baltimore County. She graduated from Dulaney High School, and Catonsville Community College. She spent several years in corporate marketing, prior to opening, and operating a retail business, One Plus One, in Cockeysville, MD She owned and operated her own business, Haslam Resort Realty and was its Broker. In addition to marketing real estate, managing condominiums for condominium associations and rental properties, Sue was an Associate Broker with Prudential/Penfed Realty. Her energy, enthusiasm, leadership, community activism and her commitment to excellence lead to many recognitions among which was being named Coastal Association of Realtor's Realtor of the Year. She was a past President of the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce, and served on their Board for a number of years. She maintained membership and active participation in a great many professional and civic organizations including Coastal Association of Realtors and Greater Ocean City Association of Realtors for over 20 years, including serving on their Boards, and Chairing many of their Committees. Sue's zest for life, and desire to contribute to making the world a better place saw her devoting her time, her energy and volunteerism to family, friends and her community. Yet, she managed her time so as to pursue her love of learning and self- improvement, swimming, horseback riding, vintage collectibles, and the adventure of traveling. God blessed this Girl Scout with many gifts and talents, among which was her positive attitude, her kind and generous nature, which through word and deed, set an example for us all!
A memorable service is planned for 16 February. Details will be available in the next several weeks. At Sue's request, in lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Worcester County Humane Society, PO Box 48, Berlin, MD 21842. Arrangements were in the care of the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

Dear Robert & family,
I am Pam McCaffrey, Sue & I worked together and she was so good to me when I lived in OC-she is truly a wonderful person.I just found out about her passing, I wondered why I had not heard from her and when I tried all her contact info. I had, it all came back to me. Sue found me my first apartment in OC & took me in during the huricane years ago. The storm was goofy and the back winds came through and took down her tree in their back yard, almost landed on the house in Berlin. She had my 50th birthday celebration party for me. She was so special and truly a wonderful friend. I moved to DC for a job, and she did get up here once and we got together & of course had so much fun. I know it must be so hard for all of you to not have her with you, she added a lot to everything. I loved her, one of my dearest, most sincere friends anyone could ask for. I am so sorry to all of you-she will always be in my heart as in yours.

We were very sad to hear of Sue's passing. She was a very special gal.
Although we didn't see each other too often, her Dad and my Mom had many happy years together.

I met Sue when I worked part-time at a real estate office with her when my husband and I retired to Ocean City. After 3 years we decided to move to Florida and Sue found us a buyer for our home in one day - her mother, "Toots!" I'm so sorry to hear about Sue's passing.

We always looked forward to Sue bringing BB to us for his "hotel" stay while she went out of town. Her wonderful smile and "go for it" attitude were always uplifting in addition to generous nature. We will miss her greatly. As a plaque she gave me states - "Friends are flowers in the garden of life." Our garden is missing a most beautiful flower.
