I never knew Walter, and I only learned of who he was just two years ago. However, his artwork was so incredibly inspiring to me, and I continue to appreciate how brilliant he really was. I was very young when he passed away, and it always saddens me that I never will get the chance to inquire about his work nor have a conversation with him. I want Walter to know that he is not forgotten. Even as someone who never met him, I feel incredibly heartbroken that someone who was so creative and talented as him is gone. If the Carpenter family, or anyone Walter was close to ever reads this, I want to give my deepest condolences, and for you all to know that he still has an influence on at least one young aspiring artist still today.
Thank you, and Rest in Peace.

I found out about Walters death 2 years ago, and it seems that time has been left untouched in my mind until now. I am glad to have found this page.
I knew Walter from Middle School, and he left a lasting impression the little time that I knew him. 3 years. I did not see any of him through high school as he branched off to pursue his own ambitions.
I see now how important that was to him and I am greatly honored to have met Walter because of his accomplishments. I will always have fond memories of you buddy. For you are not truly dead if your memories live on in the people you know.
God Bless and may God be pleased that your family be blessed many times over.

My name is Rob and I only met Walter once, briefly at his mothers house in Oella (I'm one of Winnie's friends and a neighbor). I attended Walters funeral and was very moved by what I saw and heard. I still am...and although I didn't know Walter I find myself thinking about him often. To all of you who were Walters friends and family that spoke about him at his funeral, I'd like you to know that your words have stayed with me. He was obviously a lovely young man who touched and moved the many people who were fortunate enough to know him, and although I didn't know him he has touched my life as well through of all of you.

I have learned so much from Walter, he has opened my mind to so many forms of art and has truly left a great impression on anyone I've met that has known him. I can only hope that more people will learn about him and his creations, and that those creations will live on to inspire many

Winnie- You know how much I am saddened that we should all lose this gorgeous young man in the flower of his youth. I have known Walt since he was 3 years old, and then caught glimpses of him in all his various stages of growing up. He was a lovely, sweet-natured, quietly brilliant child, and then a young man who took great pride in showing me some of his musical and graphic creations, and we are all so enriched for having known him. It's up to us now-- to take the best of what we received from Walt and pass it on each day. Love to Tess, Mandi, Cassi and all the Carpenter family, from a friend and supporter. Like Keats and Chopin, he is gone too soon, but inspires us still.

I had the great pleasure of working with Walter on a number of occasions through my former position at the Baltimore Office of Promotion & the Arts. He was an exceptional artist and a truly wonderful person to work with and just to talk to. I am terribly sorry to hear what has happened and will miss seeing him and seeing the new art that he would be making.

I never said more than "hello" to Walter, but I saw him everywhere, shared the same couch or car backseat with him a few times, and always thought, what a seemingly sweet, attractive, kind, happy, & pure spirit. This is someone I would like to get to know someday. In the words of a friend who knew him "He was a beautiful person," & I'm sure he was.

I'll always cherish the days I spent with Walter as young children, playing outside in the sun and eating peanut butter and honey sandwiches. I feel so lucky that he was part of my life. All my love to Walter and his wonderful family.

Was a very big fan of Walter's work both musically and visually. Very creative force that I wish could have continued. His work will be remembered by me and the many other people who were inspired by it.

As someone who just knew him as a fan of his music, he was a very creative mind deserving of a far wider audience. Condolences to friends and family

Walter was a really nice guy and was always pleasant to be around. I will always remember walking into Goodview finding him at his computer in the process of creating something great. A fond memory I have of him was him helping me replace my brake pads on my car. He went out of his way to help me out and I will always remember that. I hope that G-d takes good care of him and I know that he will be missed greatly.

My deepest condolences go out to Walters friends and family. I regret to say i will not be able to go to the services, but just because some of us can not be there in person does not mean we will miss him any less. I send my love out to walter and everyone who will miss him .And i agree with what Mo said he did have a way about him to make you feel like no matter who long it had been since you last saw each other, walter would make you feel like one of his best friends. He will be missed.

I am out of the country and regret that I will not be able to attend Walter's memorial service. But I will miss him greatly. We spent a lot of time together in high school, and though we didn't see each other that frequently anymore he is an irreplaceable part of who I am. Just before I left the country, we spent a too-short evening together at the Lantern Parade and had a good time. I looked forward to seeing him again. Walter, I will miss you. I send my love to all his friends and family and I will be at the memorial service in spirit.

Walter was one of the most talented, creative, accepting and genuine people I've ever had the privilege of knowing. My deepest condolences go out to Walters friends and family. Please lean on each other and feel your feelings no matter how confused they, or you may be. I regret that I will not be able to physically attend the service on Wednesday. I will be keeping the friends and family mourning this great loss from across the globe in the front of my mind and the center of my heart.

Walter, I will miss you, and I pray for all your family and everyone who knew you. You were already immortal as a mortal, and this world is already a little dimmer from your departure. Save me a seat in the orchestra pit if you can...your friend.
