William R. "Ruck" Davids

DAVIDS , William R. "Ruck" William R. "Ruck" Davids, age 88 of Ocean Pines, MD formerly of Baltimore, MD passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at his home. Mr. Davids was born in Baltimore, MD on February 2, 1924 son of the late Frank and Eva (Hands) Davids. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army and was a two time Purple Heart recipient. "Ruck" was recruited by Glenn L. Martin to play baseball for the Martin Bombers in 1948. He retired in 1983 from Martin Marietta as a building manager of corporate headquarters in Bethesda, MD after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 2645 in Ocean City and enjoyed playing golf and watching sports. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Bowen in 1967 and a son, Frederick Emm in 1985. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Joan M. Davids; 9 children, Allison McGlone, Christine Greason, Ruck Davids, Deborah Donohue, Carol Stange, Matthew, Joseph, John and Jeffrey Emm; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 3-5 and 7-9 on Wednesday, December 12th at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Rd., Ocean View, DE 19970. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Berlin, MD. Online condolences may be sent by visiting
