34 years of friendship, Bill was first my mentor then my dear friend. How lucky I was to travel with him on media tours. It was on one of those tours that Bill saw a business card slipped under our hotel room door..."my we've gotten lucky," he said. The card belonged to my now husband. I love you forever Bill,my work/life friend forever.

My Dearest Billy, how I'll miss you. We were friends for well over 60 years . I can't imagine not being able to speak with you well into the night...insomnia was always a blessing in maintaining our life long friendship. From South Mountain, SOJH, Lee Academy, Parsons, and so on and so forth, a lifetime of mischief! Who would have believed that we turned into , you a genius wordsmith and me a Doctor?
Rest in peace sweetheart. Will love you forever and then some. BLT

Dear Bill--what good fortune to have this wonderful man as my next door neighbor for so many years. His warm smile, unfailing good humor and kindness, and, of course, the happy times with that beloved dog, will always be remembered.

I lost one of my dearest friends last Sunday.
We met on the registration line first day of our freshman year at Parsons. I'm proud to say that we remained very close friends over the last 48(!) years.
I'm so glad that I was able to speak with him 2 days before his passing. We reminisced and laughed about past fun times. I told him I'd love him forever and a day.
I'm devastated.
I have a feeling that Billy and Charlotte are sitting in their favorite "phone chairs", ashtray on the little chair-side table...sipping a glass of scotch and catching up.

Billy,I'll miss you forever and a day, my most wonderful friend.

I knew Bill a a Brother at Parsons, and remember others calling him "Stren" or "Hey Stern...". I called him "Wild Bill" and sometimes he'd smile. My deepest sympathy to his family, close friends, and Brothers.

Bill was a wonderful funny and faithful friend. He was a lifelong member of his college fraternity Sigma Pi, Parsons College Fairfield, Iowa

He attended reunions and maintained affectionate contact with his brothers through all the years. I enjoyed our friendship and was fortunate to spend enjoyable times with him at our 2011 reunion. I know how he adored his family and his little dash hounds. Bill made this world a little brighter.
My heart felt condolences to his family and all his friends

While I grieve for the loss of you, my dear friend, I am at peace knowing your great mind and joie de vivre are no longer being held prisoner in your worldly body. Fly free, fly high and send a message whenever you can. I'll be listening. I'm sending you love and a very, very tight hug. I hope you can feel it wherever you are. I miss you already.
