Charles Jeffries Obituary

Charles H. Jeffries Battle Creek Charles H. Jeffries 86, of Battle Creek, died Saturday, February 6, 2010 at the Manor of Battle Creek surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 11, 1923 in Liberty, KY, the son of Cal Texton and Wavie (True) Jeffries and attended the Ellisburg Schools. He served as a Sergeant with the 81st Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron, US Army during World War II. He was a painter and a member of the painters union working in the Battle Creek area all of his life. He married Ethel F. Allison, which ended in divorce, but they remained life long friends. Charles is survived by a daughter, Denese (Jon) Hazel; three sons, Dale, Mike, Jim Jeffries all of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Candy M. Robbins, Cpl. Jonathan D. Hazel, Steven R. Hazel, Shanel Wabindato, Melinda Jeffries, Trevor Jeffries; six great-grandchildren; and Cindy Young who was also like a daughter to him. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Dean Jeffries, and five brothers. Charles enjoyed fishing, playing cards, checkers, feeding the squirrels and traveling, but his real love was spending time with his family. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Charles birth and life at 3:30 pm, Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Chapel, with Rev. Robert G. Muirhead officiating, with military honors to follow. Personal remembrances may be made at www.farleyestesdowdle.com
