Clarence Fredrick Cady

Fred Cady 87, a seven year resident at the Heartland died August 3, 2012. Fred was born August 2nd 1925 in Battle Creek, MI to Clarence & Maxine Cady.  He graduated from B C Central High School.  Later he completed electronic Technician Training.  Fred served in the US Navy WWII as a gunnery instructor and Radio Operator.  He worked at many of Battle Creek factories, but just couldn't stand it. He also worked for Julius Starr for a stint.  He wanted to work for himself.  He ran the Bedford Radio & TV from the early 50's until his retirement in 1985.  He also owned a used car lot and ran Fred Cady Used Cars for many years. 

Fred married Hazel A. Cady on December 10, 1942. They remained together until her death in 2000.  Surviving are four sons, Ronald (Suzanne), Donald, Greg, Robert (Jennifer) Cady.  The first son James died shortly after birth.  Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Fred enjoyed fishing, hunting, antique autos, listing to music, partying, and playing his guitar. He always had a joke to tell and enjoyed life to the end. He held an FCC Amateur Radio License (K8QFO) beginning in the early 60's.  For many years he work the bands of 2 and 6 meters as well as all of HF, both on code/phone local/ DX.

Cremation has taken place.  Military honors and interment will be at the Fort Custer National  Cemetery Wednesday October 9th at 2:30 p.m.
