Peter Fukuyama Obituary

Peter Alan Fukuyama

Peter Alan Fukuyama, born November 10, 1952, died suddenly on Monday, January 6, 2014.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Tom and Betty (Adkins) Fukuyama, wife Bonnie (Pierce) Fukuyama (mother of Emily and Graham), and is survived by beloved wife Shannon and children Robin, Tom, Emily, Graham, Kai, and Abi, and stepchildren David Boff, Kaitlyn (Boff) Pierce, and Alex Schram. Peter is also survived by 7 grandchildren, and by siblings David, Mary, James and Tim Fukuyama.

Peter graduated from Lakes High School and Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA. He worked in manufacturing engineering in diverse industries ranging from earth moving equipment to medical scopes to plastics, and most recently worked at Eimo Technologies in Vicksburg, MI. As diverse were the industries in which Peter worked, so were his personal interests and talents --family man, guitar player, Outer Banks vacationer, watch collector, car enthusiast, world-class hugger - these are only a few of the ways he will be remembered. He was very proud of his Japanese-American heritage and of his children.

Honoring his wishes, he gave the Gift of Life as an organ donor; the family will hold a private celebration of his life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations for Peter's children's education may be made to The Peter Fukuyama Memorial Fund at Chemical Bank, 290 Columbia Ave, Battle Creek, MI 49015-4409.

My heartfelt condolences to all the Fukuyamas, Boffs, Pierces, Schrams and my little Kucinskis. No doubt, Peter left us all too soon. Let's be sure to keep his memory alive, especially for his children and grandchildren.

I will never forget going out for dinner in the Outer Banks and hearing the host call out, "Fukuyama, party of eleven." It's not often that you get to be part of such a big family. Thank you, Peter, for those you leave behind. I will do my best to keep your memory alive for your grandsons.

As Peter's older (and only) sister, it is particularly difficult to accept that he has passed so suddenly. I will remember his warmth and smile and calling me "sis" all these years. Miss ya Pete!
