Stephen R. Gridley

Stephen R. Gridley Battle Creek Stephen R. Gridley, 60, of Battle Creek passed away Monday September 3, 2012 at Bronson Battle Creek. He was born on September 21, 1951 in Albion, MI to Erwin C. and Joyce E. (Maurer) Gridley. Stephen served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. He married Kathryn A. Hartley on March 17, 1973. He was employed by Cut Rate Market for 20 years. Stephen then partnered with his best friend Jeff Olmstead in Olmstead Construction for 15 years. He is survived by his wife, Kathy, daughters, Melissa (Darryl) Grimes, of Dorr, MI and Jessica (Keith) Whaley, of Battle Creek, sons, Stephen Gridley Jr., of Japan, and Richard (Shannon) Gridley, of Mason, MI; grandchildren, Brennan and Karson Grimes, Addison Whaley, Richard, Brandon, and Emily Gridley, a brother, Gareth (Donna) Gridley, of WI; sisters, Susan Robinson, of Battle Creek, and Kathy (Don) Roddy, of Dowling MI., He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Gridley. Stephen enjoyed playing cards, horseshoes, fishing, and spending time with friends, family and his grandchildren. He also traveled and especially enjoyed Key West, FL. He was a blood donor for the American Red Cross. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. Family will receive friends from 1pm to 3pm Friday September 7, 2012 at the Richard A.
