Bertha Benton Obituary

Mrs. Bertha Bell Benton, 80, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022.

She was born Oct. 2, 1942, at Clarkridge, Arkansas, to Howard and Beatrice Kendall.

Bertha enjoyed her family, friends, serving others, reading, puzzles, garage sales and working in her yard. She was an incredibly hard worker, retiring from Baxter Travenol Labs after three decades on the night shift. She would often babysit during the day, do ironing for others and other, occasional part-time jobs. In recent years, she enjoyed working the elections in Baxter County.

Bertha was a member of the Riverside Church of Christ and loved reading about, sharing and talking about her faith in the Lord, and wanted everyone to be a part of church. After being widowed, she loved getting together with other widows and visiting other people who could use a visit and encouragement.

She is survived by her four children, Walt (Teri) Poe of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Karen (Sheridan) Ledbetter of Clarksville, Tennessee, Wade (Ranell) Poe of Little Rock, Arkansas and Catherine (Myra) Webb of Sherwood, Arkansas; grandchildren Amanda (Chad) Chapman, Jace Poe, Austin Ledbetter, Gabriel Poe, Samuel Poe and Elijah Poe; great-grandchildren, Micah, Maddie, Etha, and Levi and a host of cousins, nieces, nephew, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Benton; her parents; and her siblings, Melvin (Donna) Kendall, Joe (Verlene) Camp, Leo (Sharon) Kendall, and Helen (Bob) Wheeler and Rose Rife.

Bertha's Celebration of Life service will be noon Friday, Dec. 23, 2002, at Riverside Church of Christ with visitation from 10 a.m. to noon. Bertha's favorite color was red and for those attending, feel free to wear or carry something red as a part of our time together.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Honduras Children's Fund via the Riverside Church of Christ either online (https://riverside-coc.org/#give) or by check made out to Riverside Church of Christ, 190 Whitaker Lane, Gassville, AR 72635.
