She was born June 30, 1953, in New York, New York, the daughter of Jack and Sylvia Mier. Fern had a number of jobs over the years but primarily she was a beloved pre-school teacher in Westchester County, New York.
She always had a passion for crafts and founded her own brand, Ferntastic Creations. Fern lived in Mountain Home since moving from Columbus, Ohio, and previously Ossining, New York.
She is survived by her husband, Russ; sons Jay and Scott; daughter-in-law Sarah; grandson Oscar; sister Jodi; brother-in-law Dave; and niece and nephew, Jared and Shannon.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2025, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service for Fern will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Life Celebrant Heather Marsalis officiating. Burial will be in Ohio.
