David Bell Obituary

David Arthur Bell, 64, passed away on, January 2, 2018. He was born, August 5, 1953, in Fort Worth, TX to Arthur Henry Bell and Frankie Lee Barrett Bell. David grew up in Ft. Worth and attended the University of Texas at Arlington earning a Bachelor of Science in Physics. In 1977, he received a fellowship at Rice University in high energy particle physics and conducted research experiments at Los Alamos National Laboratory in NM and Argonne National Laboratory in IL.

In Houston David reconnected with a high school friend, Janet Watson, and they married in, 1981. Their son, Jeremy, was born in 1994, and they raised him in Friendswood, TX. For several years David worked as a geophysicist at Shell Oil and then in, 1986, joined NASA Johnson Space Center where he had a challenging and rewarding career in the aerospace industry until he retired in, 2014. David loved science, reading, comic books, martial arts, music, theater, hunting and traveling. Most of all he loved his family.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Bell, of Clear Lake Shores, TX; by his son, Jeremy Christopher Bell and his wife, Alexis Bell, of St. George, UT; and by his sister, Connie Ferguson, of Lebanon, OH.

He will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018, at 10:00 AM, with a reception to follow, at Friendswood United Methodist Church, 110 N. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas 77546, (281) 482-7535.
