Dorotha "Dottie" Lois Wingate Redd, 73, of Friendswood, TX passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2014. She was born December 6, 1940 to Robert Wingate and Dorotha Stephenson Wingate in Lafayette, LA.
She had a passion for teaching and helping children to read. Dottie was a teacher at South Houston Intermediate School for 18 years. She always said "If I can teach one child to read, then I've done my job". She loved the children! Dottie enjoyed mostly spending time with her family.
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Joyce M. Slone and Robbie L. Seydler.
She is survived by her husband, James M. Redd; her daughter, Donna E. Caffey; grandsons, Cody Caffey and Derek Caffey and his wife Myklynn; great grandson, Kalin Caffey.
Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546 (281) 992-7200.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Norton officiating. Interment will follow at the Memory Gardens Cemetery at 3:00 P.M in Victoria, TX.
