I played on the same baseball team for 5 years with Chip growing up in Hamburg NY from 1956-1960. He was an excellent ballplayer and great teammate. He was our third baseman and he had a great throw to first- it always faded about 3 feet to his right - so he would plan for it and throw it so it would arrive at the bag. I caught many of those throws. Later he went on to be the captain of the Hamburg High School baseball team senior year. I lost touch with my after 1960 as I went to a Catholic High School but have been reminiscing recently and decided to look him up. I also went back and saw both of our names in the Hamburg Sun based on our performances on the two teams we played on, first Seiders Liquors and then the Lions Club. Sounds like he had a great life and was a positive influence on so many, which is what he was as the teammate and friend that I knew growing up

Dear Tara, Angie and Casey,
Your Dad was one in a million and will be sorely missed by all that knew him. I always looked up to him and respected him so much because he was a good man, and if he said he was going to do something he did it. He was one of the best coaches I ever played for too- he really had a gift for working with young people. I am quite sure he and your Mom are looking down on you all from Heaven and that they are rejoicing in being reunited. I am so sorry for your loss, yet I know your parents' legacy will live on through you girls.

Hugs,
Kazzye (Wilson) Martens
