Joyce Prahl Obituary

CAMBRIDGE - Joyce Ann Prahl o went to be with her Lord Sunday, June 14, 2015. She was born in Easton, MD on Sept 8, 1939 to the late Raymond Stewart and late Mildred Warren. Joyce grew-up in Royal Oak, MD, and was a member of the 1957 graduating class of St. Michael's High School. On September 21, 1957 she married William "Bill" Prahl of Andrews, MD. They lived in Royal Oak, in their early married years having three children, later moving to Cambridge. She retired from Triangle Oil Company, Easton, MD in 2003 after 45 years of service. As a youth and young adult, you could find her walking the shores of the Eastern Bay crabbing or on the water sailing. Later she enjoyed camping in their RV, and was a member of the Happy Hour Gang camping group. She touches many people with her crocheting giving her wares to family and friends in the neighborhood. She was an avid student of the Bible, and was an active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church where she loved to be a part of the Wednesday Soup day and the annual Flower Fair. She was also active in the Church of the Nazarene community, and was a part of many Bible studies in several churches. She loved to read, but found much comfort being on her knees digging in God's soil, planting her flowers and her vegetables. She loved people and sharing her life was of great joy, but her greatest joy was being with her family. Along with her husband, she is survived by her three children, Debbie Murphy, husband, Eddie, Kenny, wife Donna of Cambridge, and Donna Gail Elzey and husband, Ricky, of Lamar, SC.; four grandchildren, Benjamin Murphy, Daniel Prahl, Jonathan Prahl and Denise Jones; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law; two brother-in-laws; several step-siblings; and her beloved Smokey, the Dachshund. Preceeded in death, along with her parents, were her brother, Ray Stewart; step-mother, Belle Stewart; and step-father, Bill Warren. Pallbearers will be Benjamin Murphy, Daniel Prahl, Jonathan Prahl, Eddie Murphy, Ricky Elzey and Vincent Gordon. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 22, 2015 at 12 noon at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 200 S. Harrison St., Easton, where friends may call from 10 AM till 12 noon. SORRY we can not be with you today but our thoughts and prayers are with you. We have been over our good and fun times in our minds and through pictures many times. I remember the day at McDonalds I spilled my coke and how red Joyce got every time it was mentioned. I remember Tom's Cove haunted house, the campfire's, the many meals we shared at numerous camp grounds in many states as well as our homes and the homes of other Happy Hour Gang members. Please remember the good times always and come to see us if and when you can.
