David Lanham Obituary

David Lanham
Born: November 15, 1969 in Kewanee, IL
Died: February 14, 2023 in Iowa City, IA
David Lanham, 53, of Sheffield, IL passed away at the MercyOne Hospital in Iowa City, IA on Monday, February 14, 2023. David was born in Kewanee, IL on November 15, 1969 to Mary and Cleo Lanham. He was a graduated of Western High School class of 1988 and attended IVCC college.
David was a man of many passions and interests, and a dedicated employee at Royal SuperMart for 35 years. He took great pride in his work and always went above and beyond to ensure that customers received the best possible service. He had a friendly smile and a kind word for everyone who walked through the doors of the store unless you were a Chicago Bear fan. He was incredibly excited about the re-opening of Royal later this year. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
When he wasn't at work, David loved nothing more than cheering on his favorite sports teams, the Detroit Lions, Iowa Hawkeyes and the New York Yankees. He was a die-hard fan of the teams and never missed a game if he could help it. He loved nothing more than bantering with friends and family and trying to persuade them to jump on the bandwagon for his team.
In addition to his love of sports, he was fan of all types of music. David's favorite artist was the legendary musician Prince. He had all of Prince's albums and collected many memorabilia items.
David will be deeply missed by his family and friends, as well as by his colleague. He will be remembered for his warm smile, his kind heart, and his unwavering passion for the things he loved.
He is survived by his parents Cleo and Mary Lanham, a brother Matthew (Laura) Lanham of Aldie, Virginia, a sister Megan (Julia) Lanham Brookline, MA, 5 nieces and nephews who he treasured and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. And also by his beloved cat, Duchess.
He was proceeded in death by his grandparents, three uncles and three aunts.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Cornerstone Community Wellness with "Grocery" or "in memory of David" in the memo.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 18th, 2023 at Stackhouse Funeral Home, Sheffield, IL from 1-3pm.
