Doris Alice Bachman of rural Putnam, Illinois passed away on June 23, 2024 at Liberty Village in Princeton Illinois. She was born December 5, 1925 in Tiskilwa, Illinois to Jesse and Alice Bachman Schrock. She married Allan Bachman on February 20, 1947. He passed away on May 21, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Allen (Doris) Schrock, one twin sister, Dorothy Alice (Wilmer) Shank and one infant daughter, Louise Ilene.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Dale (Elaine Good) Bachman and Dean (Beth Gerig) Bachman of Tiskilwa, Illinois and one daughter and son-in-law, Marlene (David) Beachy of Paoli, Indiana, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She was a member of Willow Springs Mennonite Church of Tiskilwa, Illinois, a Sunday School teacher for over 20 years, helped with Bible School, was a member of Willow Springs Mennonite Women and served as their Secretary-Treasurer for nine years.
She was a member of Gideons International since 1973, and served in various offices. She was a past member of the Marshal-Putnam Homemakers Extension Association of Henry for many years. She enjoyed crocheting afghans, doilies, thousands of scrubbies, and other items, making quilts, and playing cards.
She moved from the family farm to Greenfield Retirement Home, Princeton, Illinois in August of 2017. She especially loved babies and children, and throughout the years has been a steady example of Christian faith. She grew old with grace and joy and each day would pray "The Lord is ever present with me and gives me grace, joy and peace in all my situations for which I am ever grateful." We are blessed to have had her as our mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. We will miss her deeply.
Services will be held at Willow Springs Mennonite Church, Tiskilwa, Illinois. All are welcome to attend the visitation on Sunday, July 7, 4:00-6:00pm and the Memorial service on Monday, July 8 at 11:00am with a lunch following. Cal Zehr, Pastor of the Williow Springs Church will officiate.
