Joe was born January 18,1935 in LaMoille to Edward and Priscilla (Fry) Beattie. He served in the United States Army from 1954-1956. Joe lived his entire life in the LaMoille area, and after returning from the service began farming until his retirement. He married the love of his life Frances Bantista on March 24,1981 in Las Vegas.
Joe loved travelling with Frances, especially throughout the western United States. Many wonderful years were spent at a cabin in Siren, Wisconsin on Clam Lake. Joe loved spending time with his grandchildren Owen and Cassidy. He taught Owen the finer points of farming and John Deere tractors. Grandpa called and talked to Owen daily asking about the equipment he was using, where he was, and making sure he stopped for lunch or supper. He enjoyed listening to Cassidy's stories of how big the deer she got was, and how the big one she missed. Grandpa Joe passed on his love of German Shepards to Cassidy as well. He was a member of the Mendota Moose, LaMoille Lions, and American Legion Post #540.
Joe will be forever missed by his wife Frances of LaMoille, son Brian (Judy) Beattie of Mendota, daughters: Connie Stanfield, Shelley, Vickie Arbuckle and Denise Schmidt, 12 grandchildren, one brother Bruce (Nancy) Beattie of LaMoille. and brother
-in-law Bernie Dinges of LaMoille. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Stephen, 2 daughters: Laura Curtis and Janelle Geiger, 2 brothers: Carmen Beattie and John Beattie, and sister Ann Dinges. Memorials may be made to LaMoille Volunteer Ambulance, LaMoille Lions Club, or farmrescue.org at PO. Box 28 Horace, North Dakota 58047. Condolences may be left at wasmerfuneralhome.com.
