Bennie Albert Bardsley Sr., 88, Monroe, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, at Saint Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln after a week of being treated for severe burns when his clothing caught on fire. He was born June 22, 1917, in Pottawattamie County in Iowa, the son of Walter and Emma (Wright) Bardsley. He married Elizabeth Mae “Libby" Bradley. He was a welder for over 25 years at Behlen Manufacturing, enjoyed making hay, all his animals, traveling, and his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors: wife, Elizabeth; children, Bonnie Jean Marie Peach and husband Henry of Monroe, Nancy Mae Bardsley of Quinlan, Texas, Mary A. Morris of Columbus, Pamela Sue Keeler and husband Marlin of Elkhorn, Debra Jo Berchtold, Sherry Lee Bardsley of Monroe, Patsy Ann Cornelius and husband Jim of Grand Island, Jodie Alberta Burger and husband Dan of Leigh, Bennie Albert Bardsley Jr. and wife Cathy of Bellwood, Brenda Lee Korus of Columbus, Tommie Albert Bardsley Sr. and wife Tracey of Beatrice, and Todd Albert Bardsley and wife Laurie of Columbus; 26 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Emma (Wright) Bardsley; son, James Albert Bardsley.
Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, Highland Park Evangelical Free Church in Columbus. Visitation on Tuesday from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. at McKown Funeral Home; and on Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial: Roselawn Cemetery, Columbus. McKown Funeral Home, Columbus, in charge of arrangements.
