Bernice Jobman Obituary

Bernice M. Jobman, 90, of Beatrice passed away on Friday morning, March 2, 2018 at Beatrice Health and Rehab. She was born on Aug. 13, 1927 on a farm in the rural Adams area to Henry and Mary (Weyers) Kelle. She received her education at Glendale Country School and graduated from Filley High School in 1944. She married Harvey Jobman on Feb. 2, 1947 at the American Lutheran Church of Filley, and she became a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Pickrell. They farmed around Filley and Adams until February of 1962, when they moved to Beatrice and became members of St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice. There, she taught Sunday School and did volunteer work in many areas, including the food pantry and blood mobile. She was employed for Safeway Grocery, Everett Wholesale and she worked for 26 years at Peoples Natural Gas. She enjoyed the outdoors, working in the lawn, flowers, feeding and watering the birds. She also enjoyed reading, playing cards and different games with her lady friends and traveling with her very special friend, Gussie Van Laningham.

Survivors include her son, Darrell (Candi) Jobman of Beatrice; her daughter-in-law, Annette Jobman of Lincoln; five grandchildren, Nicole (Caleb) Buland of Kansas City, Mo., Christopher (Trish) Jobman of Lincoln, Megan Rogers of Omaha, Joel (Jill) Weyer of Fort Calhoun and Joshua (Jen) Weyer of Yutan; 10 great-grandchildren, Grayson Buland, Brecklyn Buland, Evan Jobman, Dylan Jobman, Mason Rogers, Max Rogers, Kenny Wellwood, Colby Weyer, Grant Weyer and Madison Weyer; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Kelle of Beatrice and Evalena Kelle of Adams; as well as her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harvey A. Jobman; her son, Gary; her brothers, Norbert and Daylon Kelle; her sister, LaVeda (Kelle) Oltman and husband, Reiner; her brother-in-law, Clarence Hesterman and wife, Elvira; and her niece, Nancy (Kelle) Lenners.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice, with Pastor Greg Gabriel and Pastor Leah Lawson officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice. A family prayer service will be held at 10:45 a.m. in the chapel of the church on Wednesday. A memorial has been established to St. John Lutheran Church and BCH Hospice. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, and at the church for one hour preceding the services on Wednesday. Visit www.foxfuneralhome.net.
