Carl Lampe Obituary

Death

Carl J. Lampe, 79, Beatrice, died Wednesday morning, July 13, 2005, at Parkview Care Center in Beatrice. He was born Aug. 4, 1925, at Farnum, and moved with his family to Beatrice, where he graduated from Beatrice High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, from November 1943 until June 1946, and was stationed on an LST in the South Pacific. He returned to Beatrice and worked for Consumers Public Power and Nebraska Public Power for 43 years as a lineman and district line superintendent, retiring in 1988. He married Gloria Linn on Aug. 6, 1949, in Beatrice. They later divorced. On Jan. 25, 1987, he married Vernetta "Eddie" Buss Krueger at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Beatrice. He was a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and First Presbyterian Church, both of Beatrice, and currently a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Beatrice. He was a member of American Legion Bitting-Norman Post 27, Veterans of Foreign Wars Geddes-Thober Post 1077, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 531, and a former member of the Noon Sertoma Club, all of Beatrice. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren; hunting, camping and fishing. He also was a member of Ducks Unlimited and was a founding member of the Hidden Acres Golf Club.

Survivors: wife, Vernetta "Eddie;" sons, Curt Lampe and wife Carol of North Platte, Chris Lampe and special friend Vicki Cripe of Beatrice, Clayton Lampe and wife Stephanie of Omaha; daughter, Carla Wickard and husband Randy of Lincoln; grandchildren, Lindsey Lampe, Cari Lampe, Heather Lampe and husband Zeeshan Tariq, Chris Lampe Jr., Jacob Lampe, David Wickard, Brent Wickard, Mike Wickard and Tom Wickard; two great-grandchildren; brothers, George Lampe and wife Ruth, Gerald Lampe and wife Janice, all of Beatrice; sisters, Ruby Genrich, Janice Edeal and husband Jerry, all of Beatrice, Shirley Tarnowski and husband Joseph of Cudahy, Wis.; sisters-in-law, Lois Lampe of Beatrice, Jenny Lampe of Rockledge, Fla., Virginia Lampe of Herington, Kan., and Lois (Fletcher) Lampe of Beatrice; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Margarette (Brouillette) Lampe; sons, Victor and Chad Lampe; brothers, Alvin, Donald, Jimmy and Richard Lampe; infant sister; sister-in-law, Leila Lampe; brother-in-law, Herman Genrich.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 19th and Garfield streets, Beatrice (proceed down East Lincoln St., turn north on 21st, and west on Garfield), Pastor Donald Legacie officiating. Burial: Evergreen Home Cemetery, Beatrice. Family prayer service: 10:45 a.m. Saturday, at the church. A memorial has been established to Holy Cross Lutheran Church and Community Food Pantry with Louie and Delma Paul in charge. Visitation until 9 p.m. Friday at Fox Funeral Home, 19th and Garfield streets, Beatrice, (located across from the church), and at the church one hour preceding services on Saturday morning. Military graveside honors conducted by American Legion Bitting-Norman Post 27, Beatrice. A guest book for signatures and messages of condolence is also available online at www.foxfuneralhome.net. Fox Funeral Home, Beatrice, in charge of arrangements.
