Carol 'Shayde' A. Goracke

Carol "Shayde" Ann Goracke, 55, of Beatrice died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018. She was born on June 24, 1962 in Beatrice. Shayde graduated from Beatrice High School and was a state record-holding distance runner. After high school, she won marathons across the country. A gifted musician, Shayde could play about any instrument she picked up and especially loved the violin. She achieved her associate degree in journalism, and as a newspaper photo journalist, she won many awards for her writing and photography. She was an artist, scuba diver and for a short time, she was a pilot. She ran her own graphic design business for many years. What made her the happiest was music and spoiling her many pets throughout the years. Her way with animals (wild and domestic) was truly magical. Family and friends will miss her bright smile, easy laugh, sharing nature and the genuine empathy and kindness that filled her soul.

Survivors include her two sisters, Jeanne (Ralph) Knape of Davenport, Iowa and Connie Goracke; her ex-husband, Paul Voller; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Anita Janssen Goracke.
