David Allen Jurgens
September 15, 1950 - September 1, 2024
David A. Jurgens, known affectionately as Papa Dave, passed away on September 1, 2024, in Lincoln, NE, at the age of 73. Born on September 15, 1950, in Beatrice, Dave was a lifelong resident of Nebraska.
Dave graduated from Beatrice High School in 1968. After high school he worked various jobs before moving to Omaha to work as a Service Technician for Standard Blue for over 20 years. Dave then worked for A & D Technical Supply until his retirement in December, 2021.
Dave was known for his big heart and fun-loving spirit. He especially loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching the three of them play in sporting events throughout the years. Dave also loved spending time in his garage, whether it was preparing for his next project, lending a hand to a neighbor or just having cold beer ready anytime someone stopped by. Dave's garage was always open.
His generosity and kindness left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him.
Dave is survived by his daughter, Christy Jurgens of Colchester, CT; son, Eric (Cindy) Jurgens; grandchildren, Alexandria (fiancé Zach Stanczyk), Austin, and Sammy all of Lincoln; sister, Sandi Hixson; brother, Ron (Susie) Jurgens; sister-in-law, Carol Jurgens; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Tom Jurgens and Gary Jurgens, and brother-in-law, Chuck Hixson.
Dave's last selfless gift to countless others was his wish to be an organ/tissue donor.
In lieu of flowers, suggested memorial contributions to The American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.
In true Dave fashion, he never wanted a fuss over him and was the happiest when pleasing others. His wish was to forgo any type of traditional funeral or service and instead hold a gathering for friends and family to drink a beer in his memory. The family would like to invite you to share in our favorite memories or share one of your own on what would have been Dave's 74th birthday. Please join us Sunday, September 15th from 1:30p.m. - 4:30p.m. at Backswing Brewery Co. located at 500 W. South Street, Lincoln, NE 68522.
