Dean Kunc Obituary

Dean Ramon Kunc, 87, of Beatrice, passed away May 3, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born March 11, 1929 to Charles and Ida (Vokach) Kunc.

He was a graduate of Lewiston High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War veteran. He married Darlene Breunsbach on March 8, 1952. In 1953, they moved to the family farm at Crab Orchard, Neb., where they lived for 33 years. He worked at the maintenance department at Martin Luther Home for 31 years. Dean loved farming, his cattle, bowling, his American Legion friends, playing cards and tinkering.

Dean is survived by his wife of 64 years, Darlene; daughters, Dee Ann Dyas and husband Philip of Onalaska, Wisc., and Mary Corey of Beatrice; son, Wayne Kunc of Sparks, Nev.; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; twin sister, Donna Knoche and husband Keith of Beatrice; sister, Charlene James of Lincoln; sister-in-law, Virginia Kunc of Lincoln; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence and Dale Kunc; sisters, Velma Bailey, Irene Husa, Evelyn Dougherty and Dorothy Plume.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, with Pastor David Bigley officiating. Burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Evergreen Home Cemetery. Military rites by the Virginia Legion. No viewing, but a register book is available at Harman-Wright Mortuary on Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the family greeting friends from 5:30-7 p.m. Friday, May 13. A register book is also available online at www.harmanwrightmortuary.com.

A memorial is established to the Virginia Legion or the First Christian Church with Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory, Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
