Donald J. Parde, 87, of Adams, passed away Monday evening, September 1, 2025, at the Gold Crest Retirement Center in Adams. He was born on June 2, 1938, in Beatrice, to Heye and Lena (Carstens) Parde. Don was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church (Soap Creek) of rural DeWitt on June 21, 1938, and confirmed on March 29, 1953, at the American Lutheran Church of Adams. He graduated from Adams High School in 1956, and then began working for Lincoln Steel for several years. On June 8, 1958, he married Melinda Harms at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. Don and Melinda farmed for 45 years south of Adams. He was also the maintenance supervisor at Parkview Center in Beatrice for 15 years. He was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Adams where he served on the Church Council and was the Sunday School Superintendent. He enjoyed farming, traveling and attending his children and grandchildren's activities.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Melinda Parde of Adams; sons, Kevin (LaVon) Parde of Geneva, Neb. and Curt (Kaylynn) Parde of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Sherri (Erich) Sawyer of Omaha, Neb.; grandchildren, Luke (Linnea) Parde, Nate (Kaydra) Parde, Abbie Parde, Natalie Parde, Connor (Gerie Jekeln) Parde, Madeline (Sam) McClernon, and Claire Parde; two great-grandchildren, Emilene and Miles McClernon; sister, Esther Oosting; sisters-in-law, Lavon (Max) Gramann and Veloura (Don) Kaufman; brother-in-law, Norbert (Dawn Hill) Harms; nephew, Kenny (Susan) Newman; several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Heye and Lena Parde; sister, Jean Baehr; brother-in-law, Lorin Oosting; parents-in-law, Ollie and Teda Harms.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 8, 2025, at the American Lutheran Church of Adams with Pastor Nathan Metzger officiating. Burial will be at the Highland Cemetery of Adams. A family prayer service will be held at 9:45 a.m. on Monday at the church. Closed casket visitation will be from 1:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the Fox Funeral Home of Adams with family greeting friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the American Lutheran Church of Adams.
