Gary L. Theasmeyer, 67, of Beatrice died at his home on Wednesday morning, Feb. 18, 2009. He was born on Sept. 4, 1941, at Beatrice and grew up in Hallam and Princeton. He attended District 114 country school in Lancaster County, Mount Olive Grade School and Beatrice High School, graduating in 1958 at the age of 16.
He drove trucks for Adams Poultry, Kelley's Produce, Barnard Oil and Gage County Oil. He then worked for Beatrice Concrete and Behrens Construction. He also worked for Cenex and the Pickrell Co-op, where he drove the floater until retiring in 2000 due to ill health. He had farmed near Holmesville since 1978. He was married to Waunita Lienemann on Nov. 18, 1962, at the American Lutheran Church of Adams. He was a former member of the Centenary United Methodist Church of Beatrice and was currently a member of the Church of the Brethren, where he was a steward, usher and past member of the Brethren Cemetery Board. He was a former member of the React Team and the Beatrice Lions Club. He enjoyed his family, grandchildren, animals, especially his dog, Pokey, and restoring tractors.
Survivors include his wife, Waunita of Beatrice; three sons, Randy Theasmeyer and wife Rhonda of Beatrice, Mike Theasmeyer of Wymore and Jeff Theasmeyer of Beatrice; one daughter, Linda Creevan and husband Dave of Blue Springs; five grandchildren, Justin Theasmeyer and fiancee Megan Waldo, Jamie Theasmeyer, Kaleb Theasmeyer, Jacob Creevan and Zachary Creevan; one great-granddaughter, Atley Theasmeyer; one brother, Duane Theasmeyer and wife Marles of Crete; one sister, Bonnie Trauernicht and husband Hilary of Beatrice; six sisters-in-law, Alice Schoneweis of Adams, Lavona Buss and husband Dallen, Mary Ann Williams and husband William, all of Lincoln, Karen Holsing and husband Kenneth of DeWitt, Trish Schuster and husband Alan of Beatrice and Glennys Lienemann of Beatrice; two brothers-in-law, Aldean Lienemann of Lincoln and Leon Lienemann and wife Nelvie of Princeton; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Fern Mailahn Theasmeyer; granddaughter, Madison Creevan; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Henry and Anna Busboom Lienemann; brothers-in-law, Eldean Schoneweis and Eldon Lienemann; sister-in-law, Barbara Lienemann; niece, Dawn Schuster.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at the Church of the Brethren of Holmesville, with Pastor John Snyder officiating. A private family prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. at the Fox Funeral Home with burial following at the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice. A memorial has been established to the family's choice with Hubert and Wanda Cozine in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home, 19th and Garfield streets, Beatrice, until 9 p.m. on Friday and not at the church on Saturday.
