Jerry Allen Stephens, 61, formerly of Pawnee City, died on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at his home in Beatrice. He was born on Jan. 17, 1947, in Pawnee City to Robert Vestal and Mary Gladys (Matthews) Stephens.
He graduated from Pawnee City High School in 1965. He lived in Pawnee City all his life until April of 1989, when he got married and moved to Beatrice. He was a partner at the Pawnee City Body Shop beginning in April of 1978 until retiring in April of 2005. He was employed as an auto body technician beginning in 1970 and continued in the profession until his retirement. He married Marilyn Miller Coudeyras in Pawnee City at the Presbyterian Church on April 14, 1989. He was baptized in Pawnee City at the Presbyterian Church in early 1989. He was a Mason with the Beatrice Lodge, Sesostris Shrine of Lincoln, Crusin Classics (an organization with the Sesostris Shrine) and Blue Valley Shrine. He loved cars of all kinds and was a "Real Car Guy."
Survived by his wife, Marilyn of Beatrice; daughter, Jeri Lynn Wiedel and husband Cory of Omaha; son, Jeremy Jay Stephens of Beatrice; stepson, James Christian Coudeyras and wife Melissa of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren, Desire Lyn Stephens, Alexander Christian Coudeyras, Austin Kennedy Coudeyras; brother, Robert "Rasty" L. Stephens and wife Wilma of Pawnee City; brother, Johnny D. Stephens of Pawnee City; sister, Marianne Farwell and husband Gary of DuBois; sister, JoDee Barrett and friend Geoff (Clark) of Lincoln; brother, Larry E. Stephens and wife Michelle of Bennet; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father.
Memorial services are 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at the Presbyterian Church, 801 G St., Pawnee City. Officiating: The Rev. Duane Westing. No visitation; cremation. Inurnment at a later date at the Pawnee City Cemetery, Pawnee City, Neb. Memorials to Jerry's Dream Museum and Foundation, 1702 N. 16th St., Beatrice, NE 68310.
