Jessie Menck Obituary

Jessie Diana Menck passed away at home in Omaha, Neb., on August 30, 2025, after a courageous battle with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. Her vibrant spirit and joyful presence will be deeply missed by many.

Born on December 31, 1981, in Omaha to Thomas Wayne Menck and Kathie (Hartwig) Menck, Jessie's life was marked by creativity, compassion, and curiosity. She graduated from Ralston High School in 2000 and earned a BFA in Drama from the University of Oklahoma in 2004. Driven by a desire to care for others, she later completed Creighton University's accelerated nursing program, receiving her BSN and RN credentials in 2009.

Jessie found purpose and fulfillment through her work as a nurse in various settings, most recently at The Urology Center in Omaha. Her passions extended far beyond her profession; she was an avid traveler who loved trivia nights, board games, puzzles, LEGO creations, gardening, costuming, movies, and caring for her beloved rescue dogs.

She was preceded in death by her father, Tom Menck; paternal grandparents, Jerry and Betty Menck of Omaha; maternal grandparents, Herbert and Elsie Hartwig of Diller, Neb.; uncle Myron Hartwig of Harbine, Neb.; and two cherished dogs, Zeus and Babe.

Jessie is lovingly remembered by her sister, Robin Hartwig Menck of Omaha; and her mother Kathie of Beatrice. She is also survived by uncles and aunts, Ted and Vicki Menck of Palatine, Ill.; Ken and Kendra Hartwig of Lincoln, Neb.; cousins, Scott Menck, Andy Menck, Brendy Beck, Meghan Frickel, Erin Sandquist, Andrew Hartwig, Ben Hartwig; their families; and her rescue dogs Jasper and Rosie.

A "Lifetime Achievement Award" Ceremony will be held Thursday, September 18th at the Dundee Theater, 4952 Dodge St., Omaha, beginning at 12 p.m., followed by a movie screening; one final recommendation from Jessie.
