Steven Patrick Arena Sr., 61, of Beatrice, Neb., died on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, at Beatrice Community Hospital in Beatrice.
He was born on March 28, 1950, in St. Louis, Mo., to Antonio and Juanita (Noll) Arena. He received his GED in 1978. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was a past member of the Nebraska National Guard in Beatrice.
Steven worked for the Nebraska Penitentiary in Lincoln and Tecumseh, but most of his working life he was a truck driver. He enjoyed camping, fishing and music especially the Beatles. He played the guitar, both the bass and acoustical.
He is survived by his children, Steven P. Arena of Beatrice, Neb., Duaine D. Arena and wife, Robyn, of Virginia, Neb., Anthony M. Arena and wife, Donna, of Beatrice, Neb., Ashley N. Arena-Uribe and husband, Tyler, of Burchard, Neb.; grandchildren, Alexis, Kaitlin, Cameron, Kelsey, Brooke, Masyn, Deighton, Ty Arena, and Madison Uribe; brothers, Rex "Tony" Arena and wife, Sue, of Fredericktown, Mo., Joe Arena and wife, Rhonda, of Beatrice, Neb., Chris Arena of Lincoln, Neb., Robert Arena, Bill Arena and wife, Audrey, of Kingsland, Ga.; sister, Tina Gay and husband, Darrell, of Waverly, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Juanita (Noll) Arena; nephew, Joshua Arena; sister-in-law, Carol Arena.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, at Harman-Wright Mortuary Chapel, Seventh and Elk, Beatrice, with Tony Arena officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Crete, Neb. Visitation will be held at Harman-Wright Mortuary on Monday, March 5, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. A memorial has been established to family's choice with the mortuary in charge.
