Annie Perry Obituary

Annie Jewel Koon Perry, age 95, went to her heavenly family on October 23, 2025. Annie, the daughter of Laura Lambert Koon and John Calvin Koon was born December 1,1929, in a snowstorm.

Her early years were in a remote cabin in East Texas under what is now Toledo Bend Reservoir. She later moved with her mother to Port Arthur, where she finished high school. Annie began a career in bookkeeping and moved to Orange TX, where she met her husband, Donald Perry. Annie was a gifted painter, often painting birds and other wildlife - on canvas and later on china. Annie and Don later moved to Abilene, TX to be closer to family. Donald died in 2004, and a few years later Annie moved to the Austin area, then Beaumont and Spring - again to be closer to family. Wherever she lived, Annie always made friends easily, frequently teaching others how to paint.

Annie is survived by a brother Lt. Commander (Ret) Charles Taylor, daughter Charlotte Ann Rumsey; son Donald Keith Perry (Sandy), grandchildren John Rumsey (Gail), Kathryn Perry, and Susan Brokhin (Paul); great-grandchildren Hannah Bethea (Jakob), Kara Rumsey, Maxwell, Olivia and Benji Brokhin, nephews, nieces and other extended family.

Graveside services will take place on Monday, October 27, at 10:30 AM at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park located at 8935 Old Hwy 90, Orange TX, 77630. Services will be provided by Klein Memorial Funeral home in Magnolia, TX.
