I attended St. Anthony Cathedral School beginning in 1987 and Fr. Bennie was the priest at St. Anthony Cathedral during that time. He also confirmed me for confirmation. I would attend Mass in Nederland when I worked in the area. Fr. Bennie, you are greatly loved and will be greatly missed. Rest in peace.

I just found out about Father Patillo passing away last night. It seems like it was just yesterday that Mother passed away so its been difficult to hear the news of your passing. Father Patillo's Mother lived in our neighborhood and she was like a Mother to me. I know you are in a better place with your family and most of all with Jesus. You were a good man and you will be missed. The world has lost a good man but heaven has received a man who has worked his entire life spreading the word of Jesus. Father Bennie Patillo this is not a goodbye forever its more like see you soon in Heaven!

Father Benny telling his joke

Father Benny we loved you dearly and missed you so very much after we moved. You suggested we have a civil wedding and come back in six months to a year and you would bless our marriage. That's what we did. We had a Hawaiian style wedding on a small cruise ship. For the blessing we wore the same Hawaiian clothing and I presented you with a lei from Hawaii. You took our pictures after a friend took pictures with you in the photo. You did that to make sure the crucifix was in the wedding picture. That photo is on a bookshelf in the living room.
When we went "home" for visits we were thrilled to be able to visit with you after mass. You will always be remembered for the jokes you told when mass ended and for the great sense of humor and loving nature you had.
