Bobby Dismukes Obituary

Bobby Wayne Dismukes, 77, passed away on May 5, 2009 in League City, TX. He was a native of Childress, Texas; born on April 15, 1932 to parents Pernie Hall and Thomas Emmett Dismukes. He later moved with his family to Groves, Texas where he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur. Bobby served two years with the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean Conflict. After his marriage to Mary Virginia Savoy, Bobby earned his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lamar University. He spent his entire career working in the chemical industry in Texas, Louisiana and Maracaibo Venezuela. He retired from the Occidental Chemical Corp. Battleground Plant in La Porte, Texas. While living in Groves, Bobby was active in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, family camping and actively volunteered in many school, church and community activities. Bobby loved hosting outdoor events. He could frequently be found barbequing on his back porch or at his house at Crystal Beach, Texas surrounded by friends and family. In 1991, Bobby and his wife moved to League City where he was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and twin sons Richard Dale Dismukes and Robert Gayle Dismukes. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Virginia Dismukes, his sons, Gregory Wayne Dismukes, David Alan Dismukes & wife Sarah, Gary Evan Dismukes & wife Sandra, 14 grandchildren, siblings, Lauvern Baumert, Cherrie Henneke, Tommy Dismukes and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 8, 2009 from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 8, 2009 at 2 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church, with Rev. J.C. Coon officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
