Geneva Lois Bennett

Geneva Lois Bennett, 90, of Beaumont died Saturday, March 15, 2008 with her loving family surrounding her at Christus Hospital, St. Elizabeth. She was born in Chenneyville, La. and a lifelong resident of Beaumont, Texas. She is a 1936 graduate from Charlton-Pollard High School. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Live oak Cemetery. There will be a public viewing today from 12 Noon until 6:00 p.m. at Mercy Funeral Home. Visitation, 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ivory and JoAnn Jackett; husband, Henry Bennet, Sr., and son, Henry Bennett, Jr. She is survived by four daughters, Patsy Hornsby Strong of Houston, Texas, Constance Bennett-Pollard (Henry), Barbara McCreary (Samuel) all of Beaumont; June M. Bennett of Washington, D.C.; two sons, Harold Bennett (Maudry) of New Iberia, La., Bruce L. Bennett of Washington, D.C.; daughter-in-law, Priscilla Bennett of Las Vegas, NV. and sister-in-law, Cora Elizabeth Thomas of Houston, Texas; four sisters, Dorothy Batiste of Lecompte, La., Delores Sumbler of Lakeridge, Va., Geneva Lynch (Moses) of Pensacola, Fl., Rosa Taylor (Bobby) of Alexandria, La.; two brothers, Jimmy Winnfield (Josephine), and David Winnfield all of Alexandria, La.; (6) grandchildren, (9) great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
