Gordon Cross is my Pappaw. He was an amazing man. He would do anything for us, and loved us and my Mammaw so much. He taught my kids (his great grandchildren) how to take care of a garden, how to properly mow a large yard, and how to be a devoted family man and American. He taught us all what being humble, kind, and forgiving looks like. I never heard him say an unkind word. He adored my husband, Chris, and they were such good friends. Once Chris bought Pappaw two cases of Delaware Punch, a drink Pappaw loved, and we stopped by on our way back from a vacation to drop it off. We found Pappaw in his neighbors´ backyard, setting a trap for some animal that had been a nuisance to them. At this point, Pappaw had neuropathy and couldn´t see well at all, so he was feeling around on the ground. This is the kind of person he was, that he would help others quietly, even when it was not easy for him. We still miss you terribly, Pappaw, almost a decade later. Our hearts hurt from missing you. We´re so lucky to know we will see you again. Love Always, Candace
