Janice Byram Obituary

Janice Jackson Byram was born January 29, 1939 in Port Arthur, Texas where she lived all her life. She died September 16, 2007. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nell McGarrahan Jackson and David C. Jackson and three brothers, S. D., Chester and Robert Jackson. She is survived by her loving husband, G. D. Bud Byram, her son, Kurt Keys and his wife, Joy of Port Arthur, and her daughter, Karen Keys Harding and her husband, Tom of Orangefield, two stepsons, Clint and his wife, Elizabeth Byram of Austin, Texas and Brad Byram of Austin, Texas. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Amber Harding Gossett, April Harding McGee and Jonathan Harding of Orangefield, Jeremy Keys of Groves, Kristen Keys of Brooklyn, New York, Emily Smith of College Station and Maggie, Hannah and Jacob Byram. Also survived by 5 great-grandsons, Joshua Gossett, Tyler Stanley, Triston, Christopher and Brayden McGee of Orangefield. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1956 and was a member of the Red Hussars. In 1994 she graduated from Lamar Port Arthur, Summa Cum Laude. She received the Sydalise Fredeman Award for Scholastic Achievement. As one of the longest resident on Pleasure Island, for 24 years, she has seen the development of the island. Janice was a long time member of the Galveston Bay Parrot Head Club where she was also known by her Island name, Princess Kisselpoo. Evening visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 pm at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves, Texas. Celebration of Life Service will be Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 3 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to; Pancreatic Research Foundation, Baylor College of Medicine, One Baylor Plaza, Mail Stop 130, Houston, TX 77030

I am so sorry to hear of Janice's passing. I knew her for over 20 years, back to the Armaidillo Ski Club days. She was beautiful, very talented and always a joy to be around. The world is sadder today, but heaven is smiling brightly.
