Lionel Royce Welch

1935 - 2021

Lionel Royce Welch, 86, of Beaumont, Texas passed away Friday, August 20, 2021 at his home.

Lionel was born September 13, 1935 in Rayne, Louisiana to Martin Lionel Welch and Gladys Hebert Welch.

He was a lifelong resident of this area and a retired C.W. 4 in the Army National Guard with 35 years of service.

Lionel was a 60 year member of St. Therese, the Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church where he taught 10th graders CCD. He was a member of Port Acres Knights of Columbus Lodge 3195.

Lionel also served as a US Airborne at Ft. Bragg in North Carolina.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 27, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Therese, the Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church with Reverend Rejimon E. George officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches.

Lionel was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae Viator Welch and brother, James Welch.

Surviving relatives include his daughter, Cynthia Welch Cox and husband Troy of Chattanooga, Tennessee; son, Steven Gerard Welch of Lake Jackson, Texas; brothers, Larry Welch of LaBelle, Texas, John Nelson Welch and wife Sandra of Seguin, Texas, and Charles "Dan" Welch of Beaumont, Texas; grandchildren, Jason Gaudet, Aaron Gaudet, Lauren Belaire, and Taylor Cox; great-grandson, Abel Gaudet.
