Lynn Kupiec Obituary

Lynn Louise Lipsky Kupiec, 85, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 6, 1939, in Mineola, New York to Marjorie Louise Livingston and William Charles Lipsky.

Lynn grew up in Great Neck, New York and lived the "quintessential 1950s" of family, patriotism, impeccable manners and grace; traits which remained throughout her well-lived life. Expectations which she made clear to her children every day.

She met the love of her life, Steve, on a blind date arranged by her mother. Steve, an imminent graduate of The United States Merchant Marine Academy, soon asked her to accept his pledge pin and she responded only if they were to marry. They married a few months later. Her ability to command the moment never left her.

Lynn and Steve proceeded to enjoy a Coast Guard Officer's life in Cleveland, Ohio and Louisville, Kentucky. When they decided to join the 1970 "corporate life" in Beaumont, Texas, the Long Island girl naturally asked if horses were required for transportation. Settled in Beaumont, her gracious hostess style set many epic, lovely house parties with menus cooked by Mom and Manhattans and Margaritas mixed by Dad.

Her ability to command the moment, and be courageous, was never more clear when, widowed unexpectedly at 33, she chose to remain in Beaumont, without her extended family, and raise her two daughters because, as she said, "That is where their life is now."

The next 52 years ensued and she insisted that her girls' birthday cakes and childhood clothes be made by her. Things that made her girls different at the time but instilled her innate commitment to family.

Lynn is survived not only by her family, but hundreds of beautiful quilts made with love which will outlast us all.

Lynn's survivors include her daughters, Suzanne Lynn Kupiec of Houston (James C. Dyer, IV, fiancé) and Karyn Renee Husbands of Beaumont (Ronald C. Husbands, husband); grandchildren, William Hunter Hawkins, Stephen Allen Davidson, and Jacob William Davidson; and great-granddaughter, Hattie Lynn Hawkins.

Lynn was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Phillip Kupiec Jr.; her parents, and dear sister, Doris Wine.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Houston Chapter, 10060 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, Texas 77054 or United Way of Beaumont, 700 North Street, Suite H, Beaumont, Texas 77701.

A gathering of Mrs. Kupiec's family and friends will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025 with her memorial service following at 11:00 a.m., at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

Mommy, we are heartbroken that you are no longer here but know you are with Daddy, the love of your life, for whom you have waited so very long to once again feel his arms around you.
